William Frédéric Edwards (1777-1842)
Born in Jamaica where he was the son of a planter of the same name, he was a schoolmate
of William Hazlitt's at New College, Hackney before becoming a librarian at Bruges and from
1808 a physician and natural philosopher in Paris.
