The daughter of Hinton Maddox; she married, first, Duke Gifford, and second, in 1805, John Henry Petty, second Marquess of Lansdowne. Maria Edgeworth described her as “perfectly natural, daring to be herself, gentle, sprightly, amiable, and engaging.”
