Hon. Charles Yorke (1722-1770)
The second son of Philip Yorke, first earl of Hardwicke (1690–1764); educated at Corpus
Christi College, Cambridge and Lincoln's Inn, he was solicitor-general (1756), MP for
Reigate (1747-68) and the University of Cambridge (1768), and, for three days before his
death, lord chancellor.
