Charles Orby Hunter (d. 1791)
Of Croyland Abbey, Lincolnshire, which he inherited from his uncle, Thomas Orby Hunter;
he lived in Paris in distressed circumstances and was involved in a chancery suit with his
wife in 1786. The translator of Byron, George Orby Hunter, was probably his illegitimate
son. His son Thomas, subject of the chancery suit, was the brother-in-law of Mary Ann
Chaworth.
