My dear Mrs. Cowden Clarke,—I have great
pleasure in retaining “The Yule Log” for the
regular No. to be published at Xmas time; not for the Xmas No. so called because
that will be on a new plan this year, which will not embrace such a contribution.

Mary Victoria Cowden Clarke [née Novello] (1809-1898)
The daughter of the musician Vincent Novello, she married Charles Cowden Clarke in 1828
and wrote works on Shakespeare, including
The Complete Concordance to
Shakespeare (1845).
