     “. . . I suppose you have heard of Lord Chesterfield’s marriage to Anne Forester.* Charles Greville went express to London from Heaton (Wilton’s) to break it to Mrs. Fox Lane. George Anson marries Isabella:† money no object. . . . I don’t believe
                                    there will be a king in Europe in 2 years’ time, or that property of any
                                    kind is worth 5 years’ purchase. . . .” 
    
    George Anson  (1797-1857)  
                  The son of Thomas Anson, first viscount Anson; he fought at Waterloo and was MP for Great
                        Yarmouth (1818-1835) and Staffordshire South (1837-1853). In 1856 he was Commander-in-Chief
                        in India, where he died of cholera.
               
 
    
    
    Charles Cavendish Fulke Greville  (1794-1865)  
                  The son of Captain Charles Greville (1762-1832); he was educated at Eton College and at
                        Christ Church, Oxford, and was clerk-in-ordinary to the privy council. His famous 
Diary began appearing in 1874.
