Allan Cunningham [Hidallan] (1784-1842)
Scottish poet and man of letters who contributed to both Blackwood's and the London Magazine; he was author of Lives of the most Eminent British Painters, Sculptors, and
Architects (1829-33).
William Jerdan (1782-1869)
Scottish journalist who for decades edited the Literary Gazette;
he was author of Autobiography (1853) and Men I
have Known (1866).
Sir Walter Scott, baronet (1771-1832)
Scottish poet, novelist, antiquary, biographer, editor, and sheriff.
