The son of Gilbert Henderson of Liverpool; educated at Eton, Brasenose College, Oxford, and Lincoln's Inn, he was a barrister, Queen's Counsel, and recorder of Liverpool. He was a member of the 1820 Joseph Hamel party caught in an avalanche on Mont Blanc.
