The son of the Rev. William Knox, he was Captain of the 87th Fusiliers, with whom he fought at Talavera; he was British Resident at Vathy in Ithaca when Byron visited. In 1848 the Gentleman's Magazine refers to him as ”the late” in their notice of his daughter's marriage.
