The second child of Sir James Mackintosh; in 1832 she married Hensleigh Wedgwood (1803-91), son of Josiah Wedgwood (1769-1843). She corresponded with Charles Darwin. Maria Edgeworth described her in 1821 as “one of the best-informed and most unaffected girls I ever knew.”
