Son of the first earl Camden; he was MP for Bath (1780-94), lord of the Admiralty (1782-88), lord of the Treasury (1789-94), lord lieutenant of Ireland (1795-98), president of the council (1805-06, 1807-12), and chancellor of Cambridge University (1834-40).
