Thought to be the illegitimate daughter of Lord Brougham, she lived in Paris and corresponded with Matthew Arnold, George Ticknor, and Lord Lytton. Among her novels was Mildred Vernon: A Tale of Parisian Life in the Last Days of the Monarchy, 3 vols (1849).
