Of Wroxham Hall, Norfolk, the son of Sir Clement Trafford (d. 1786) and Lady Jane Southwell; he was educated under Samuel Parr at Norwich, at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and at Lincoln's Inn; he was high sheriff of Norfolk in 1817.
