The son of Thomas Curtys Pollard of Barbados; educated at Eton, Harrow, Stanmore (under Samuel Parr), and Emmanuel College, Cambridge, he was called to the bar from the Inner Temple and was Comptroller of the Exchequer-bill Pay-Office.
