The son of John Lynes of Kirkby Mallory, steward to Lord Wentworth; educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, after marrying in 1822 Caroline Sobieski Wynne, granddaughter of Samuel Parr, he was rector of Elmley Lovett, Worcestershire (1823-35) and Hatton, Warwickshire (1835-43).
